The organization publishes reports on burning environmental issues in order to bring to the public's attention the scope of the problem and possible solutions, both at the policy and consumer levels. We chose to focus on the plastic and food waste challenges because these are burning problems that affect the future of humanity in the most obvious way. Waste is a problem that humanity created when it began to promote a linear economy that does not fit into the natural circular economy. In an attempt to solve the waste problem there is a need for a comprehensive approach, which these reports serve to do.
The report on food waste in Israel was written with the aim of serving as a knowledge base for action and decision-making regarding local food system resilience. The document summarizes official and unofficial sources and includes knowledge, insights and a wide range of examples from Israel and abroad, which were accumulated over 9 years of work by The Natural Step Israel in reducing food waste in Israel.
Each of us, women and men alike, have a central role to play in creating a healthier economy for People and Planet, and transitioning to sustainable products. As mothers and fathers, educators and citizens, we can raise awareness of the issue and educate the younger generation and future drivers of consumerism. Together we can create significant change.
